- Trade-in prices set to plummet as new iOS 13 won’t be compatible with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
- Last chance to get up to £120 for your iPhone 6 Plus
- The iPhone 6 resale price could drop to as low as £50 when iOS 13 comes out
- Recycling prices in August show an upward trend, now is the time to sell
Independent mobile phone comparison site, www.compareandrecycle.co.uk, is warning of a big drop in recycling prices for iPhones 6 and 6 Plus following the release of new iOS 13 this September. Compare and Recycle is advising iPhone 6 and 6 Plus owners not to miss out on August’s resale price surge and is encouraging those who want to get the best price possible for their old iPhone 6 to trade in before the new iOS rolls out.
Compare and Recycle has tracked the recycling prices of iPhones 5 and 5C that had their iOS support terminated at the release of iPhone 8, to predict how the release of iOS 13 will impact the trade-in prices for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The analysed data shows a big drop in what you can earn for your old iPhone as iOS support ends.
Compare and Recycle estimates that prior to the iOS 13 release resale prices for the iPhone 6 could top out at £100 depending on capacity and reach the pinnacle of £120 for iPhone 6 Plus models, depending on capacity. Historic data shows that immediately after older iPhones lose their iOS support, recycling prices decline by up to £5 daily and are likely to lose a further 30% of their value by Christmas. After losing iOS support, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones are likely to depreciate by up to 60% in total over the next few years.
www.compareandrecycle.co.uk is recommending that customers plan their trade-ins before Apple starts rolling out iOS 13. This is predicted to happen when Apple unveils its new iPhone line-up in the first half of September. After that, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models will lose their value continuously.
Matthew Moreton, Managing Director at Compare and Recycle, explains: “The release of iOS 13 means one thing for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus resale prices: they will be at their highest prior the roll out and if you miss the opportunity to grab the best deal you risk losing a fair amount of cash.”
“So if you are looking to upgrade your iPhone 6, make sure you don’t miss the boat and compare recycling prices online to lock-in the highest deal.”
