Sony Ericsson Xperia arc owners should expect a firmware update before the end of May. The ‘MR1’ update will be its first major update since the handset was launched.
The key maintenance release changes include:
- Facebook inside Xperia integration, announced at the same time as the Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro.
- Wallpaper/background changes
- Android OS 2.3.3, with security fix
- Other as yet unconfirmed consumer updates
Another update will follow later, bringing the Android OS version up to V2.3.4 – which will include a Wi-Fi fix, which cause some users to find themselves connected to a Wi-Fi router despite having long left range, stopping any data being transferred without rebooting the phone, or toggling Wi-Fi off and on.
The update will be offered OTA (Over-The-Air) with the first models being the unbranded units.
Facebook inside Xperia will also be rolled out to other handsets running Android 2.3 soon, which will also include the Xperia X10.
