This is a great phone, but you might not choose to pick it up because there are better choices. There’s plenty of good points about the XZ3, with Sony finally succumbing to trends and employing features such as OLED and bezel-less displays (well, almost).

Gone are the sharp edges on the body, for a rounded and modern chassis that glides nicely into the pocket. Sony has done very well in the design department; gone are the days when a flagship Xperia is guaranteed the last place at the beauty pageant. Speaking of aesthetics, the screen is also brought in line with smartphone standards – the Japanese manufacturer has slapped on a curved OLED panel, and guess what? It looks incredible.

Watching videos at 1080p is a great experience, with colours popping off the screen and deep blacks due to the OLED. Sony is obviously playing to its strengths here, as usual – more evident when you get to the camera, which produces impressive and almost professional-level snaps.

What the Manufacture says:

Sony Mobile Communications continues its evolution in Xperia engineering and design with the announcement of its latest flagship, the Xperia XZ3, powered by the best of Sony’s expertise across TV, audio, imaging and gaming, in a sleek modern design. “Our new XZ3 flagship smartphone is not just beautiful to look at, but it’s packed with Sony’s cutting-edge audio and visual technologies, letting you enjoy high-quality content just as the creators intended, for a truly immersive entertainment experience in the palm of your hand,” said Sony Mobile Communications executive deputy president and head of sales marketing Hideyuki Furumi.

The Xperia XZ3 features a beautiful six-inch QHD+ HDR OLED display, powered by Sony’s award-winning BRAVIA OLED TV technologies, to deliver deeper blacks, higher contrast, and sharper clarity with more vibrant colours for you to enjoy your favourite movies and content. And advanced X-Reality for mobile will “upconvert” SDR content to near HDR so even when you’re watching content online, you can enjoy a high-quality playback.

Our Review:

While the XZ3 is an impressive device, there are better options out there in the form of the Galaxy Note 9, Huawei P20 Pro and for those who want to pay less, the OnePlus 6. There’s also a glaring annoyance with the XZ3 and its curved screen – and that is ‘Super Sense’, Sony’s productivity software that aims to make it quick to access common apps based on your use. You’ll often launch Side Sense by accident and it’ll get in the way a lot, especially when you’re lying down browsing. If there was a bit more bezel to offset the annoyance stated above and a cheaper price, the XZ3 would get half a flame more to its rating. Financing available through Bad Credit Site

The battery is a little on the low side at 3,300mAh, but it will get you through a day of moderate use. There’s software used to ensure the battery isn’t overcharged. This contributes to the battery’s overall lifespan and it cleverly recognises when you plug in at night and unplug in the morning. What you’re getting is a premium flagship handset that will no doubt make you happy once you get the hang of its quirks. It has a beautiful design that you’ll be happy to slap on the table at the pub.
