The iPad Mini is set to be the star of an Apple launch event thought to be happening on the 23rd October, finally ending the rumours of an iPad to rival the Google Nexus 7.

The Apple iPad Mini is believed to have a diagonal screen size of 7.85 inches and a lower resolution than the Retina display of the current iPad.

It’s thought the event on the 23rd October with be focussed largely on iBooks but the star of the show is expected to be the Apple iPad Mini reveal, where we’ll finally get to see what it looks like and, more importantly, what it is powered by.

In related news, SlashGear has revealed what seem to be the first online prices for the Apple iPad Mini have started to appear, courtesy of a leaked document claiming to be from German Retail chain, Media Markt’s internal system.

The biggest news, along with proposed pricing, is that there will be two variants – 3G and Wi-Fi-only – with four storage capacities offering a host of price points:

8GB Wi-Fi only – ‚¬249
8GB Wi-Fi and 3G – ‚¬349
16GB Wi-Fi only – ‚¬349
16GB Wi-Fi and 3G – ‚¬449
32GB Wi-Fi only – ‚¬449
32GB Wi-Fi and 3G – ‚¬549
64GB Wi-Fi only – ‚¬549
64GB Wi-Fi and 3G – ‚¬649

What is clear from the pricing is that Apple isn’t looking to go head-to-head with the Google Nexus 7, preferring instead to keep a price premium to the iPad Mini.

What do you think? Are you excited about the news the iPad Mini is finally coming or is it too little too late and too expensive? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
