Kogan launches budget Android smartphone

Manufacturer Kogan launched its £119 budget Android offering today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The specs aren’t half bad either, with the phone running a dual-core 1GHz Cortex-A9, 512 MB of RAM, a 5 MP rear camera and Ice Cream Sandwich. This compares with similarly priced budget manufacturer Huawei’s Ascend G300, reviewed by WhatMobile in June 2012, at £100, which runs Gingerbread.

The Kogan Agora Smartphone has a 5 inch screen also, with 480 x 800 pixel resolution.

Kogan.com chief executive Ruslan Kogan said the company wanted to make technology more affordable for everyone.

“£120 can get you 27% of an iPhone 4S, 28% of a Samsung Galaxy Note, or 100% of the Kogan Agora Smartphone.”

The phone is only available from the manufacturer.

Stay tuned for WhatMobile’s review.
