The Nokia Asha 309 budget feature-phone running the touchscreen version of Series 40 looks set to hit the UK later the year with Nokia UK updating its website to reflect the fact, posting a ‘Coming Soon’ sign.

Nokia announced the Nokia Asha 309 and the dual-SIM version, the Nokia Asha 308, earlier this week and has already updated its website to say the single-SIM version is ‘coming soon’.

The Nokia Asha 309 is a 2G-enabled smartphone lite device that is based around a 3-inch touchscreen with a basic 240 x 400-pixel resolution. Following a similar design to the Nokia Asha 306, it measures 109.9 x 54 x 13mm and weighs 102g.

As a budget device you won’t find much in the way of cutting-edge tech but with a 2-Megapixel camera, 64MB of RAM, 20MB of internal memory, microSD slot and Wi-Fi built-in there is enough to keep budget-conscious buyers happy.

We’ve been impressed with the touchscreen version of the Series 40 OS, which brings with it a re-designed interface and a more Android-like feel to the budget phone range.

No official UK pricing has been set, but Nokia has announced that it will costs around 99 USD, excluding taxes. With the  Nokia Asha 311 selling for around the £110 (inc. VAT) here in the UK we can expect the Nokia Asha 309 to be sub-£100.
