Fancy a cool blend of the P10 and the rest of the smartphone market? Huawei has clearly looked after you then, because the P Smart is just that.

A larger, extended display alongside the usual dual camera set up are the first places the eye goes to, both of which are great improvements to the device and are key features that means the P Smart is great Value for money. Specifically, the P Smart rocks a 5.6-inch, 1080p display, which has an 18:9 aspect ratio which, strangely, is a little unique as most 18:9 devices grow to 6-inch screens.

Therefore this device gives the ‘full view’ experience whilst keeping a familiar form factor. Powering the smartphone is a Kirin 659 chipset with 3GB of RAM. Internal storage stands at 32GB (expandable up to 256GB), while the battery is 3,000mAh. In terms of user experience, the P Smart runs the UMEI overlay of Android 8.0, the Oreo flavour, and is generally very easy to use with the added convenience of things like split screen. The aforementioned main camera is dual 13 and two-megapixel snapper, the front-facing snapper is eight megapixels. The software features are also packed into the device’s camera with a lot of flagship effects at the smaller price point, adding the value aspect.

What We Say

The Huawei P Smart is a fantastic budget smartphone. There is very little missing in the relatively small package when compared to a flagship and quite frankly the price is way too low.

The screen is a lovely quality, watching films and TV shows on the go is great and coupled with that processor from Kirin, gaming is also very quick and easy. On the back, the rear camera works a treat, the 13MP snapper and depth sensor functioning nicely in conjunction with each other and there were some nice shots taken with a soft blur in the background, making the subject stand out more.

The front camera is also sufficiently impressive – selfies worked well, and there were a couple of features with the front too. Most frequently, I used was the portrait mode which, once again, made it impossible for anyone to focus on anything other than me. Overall, this is a great little runner and works very well day to day. The small screen for me was a bit too cramped, but if you’re used to a sub-6 inch screen, this will do you fine.
