In our latest review, we have been given the iRig Pro Duo I/O by our Friends at IK Multimedia.  This device has become very useful in the current coronavirus as it allows the user to record music, videos or podcasts when your not able to record in a studio but still want that kind of audio quality. 

The iRig Pro Duo I/O is the second coming from the previous iRig Pro Duo.  The iRig Pro Duo I/O now comes with 2-channel audio/MIDI interface that allows hight quality recordings and can be used of the following devices:

  • iPhone
  • IPad
  • Android Devices
  • Mac users
  • Windows Users

It’s window users who benefit greatly from this device as the inclusion of ASIO drivers that deliver low latency performance for these who use windows.  Inside the box not only do you get the device itself but you also get the following accessories:  

2x AA Batteries, Optional PSU, Lighting cable, USB-A & USB-C cables.

The iRig Pro Duo I/O can accommodate a variety of input sources such as microphones, MIDI controllers and instruments such as a guitar, keyboard, for example, making recording music in isolation a really helpful product.

Using this device for recording it has two analogue combo inputs that help connection and helps to record with a combination of dynamic and condenser microphones and can be complemented by class-A preamps to give the perfect level of recording.  You can also use the Pro duo I/O as a MIDI interface via the breakout cables. You also get 2x balanced ¼ outputs and a headphone output. 

 

As mentioned earlier what helps Window users is the introduction of a direct monitor switch that provides latency-free monitoring of direct signals. This is perfect for these making vlogs or podcasts.   

Now using this device its compatible with all your favourite recording apps such as GarageBand for recording to FILMIC for making Vlogs and even BossJack studio for making podcasts. You can even use it to record Facebook steaming. Not got any of these apps do not worry as you get access to IK software apps meaning there will be something for your needs.  

The more noticeable features device has is it has updated mic preamps for increased gain. It gives you a USB-C cable to allow to most devices that are switching over to USB-C. The iRig Pro Duo i/O also comes with improved volume controls and level indicators for a better workflow.  The iRig Pro Duo I/O also comes with rubberised protection meaning you can take it where ever you want knowing it can handle a bump or 2.
