What Mobile Award Winners 2018

More than 32,000 consumers voted in the What Mobile Awards 2018. 

The Votes helped decided who was the best in Mobile Tech and the results this year showed how strong brands such as Apple & Samsung are this year.

Best Smartphone:

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S9

Runner-Up: Apple iPhone X

3rd Place: Apple iPhone 8

After picking up its Best Smartphone Prize last year for the Galaxy S8 its now turn for the S9 successor keeps the record intact.

Best Smartphone Innovation

Winner: iPhone X- Face ID

Runner-up: Huawei P20 Pro- Triple Rear Camera

3rd Place: Huawei Mate 10 Pro- Artificial Intelligence

More Kudos for the S9 but a good effort from Huawei considering the P20 Pro was launched in the second quarter of the year.

Winner: Samsung Notebook 9 Pro

Runner-Up: Microsoft Surface Book 2

3rd Place: Lenovo Yoga 920

The ‘9’ Series of Samsung devices continues its dominance with the notebook pro clearing up in the 2-in-1 sector.

Winner: Fitbit Iconic

Runner-Up: Samsung gear Fit 2 Pro

3rd Place: Garmin Vivofit 4

Fitbits’ management will find their pulses racing when they see the Iconic has pushed Samsung into second Gear.

Winner: Apple Watch Series 3

Runner-Up: Fitbit Ionic

The Amazon Echo has beaten its rivals by a country mile in this competition with 20% difference between 1st & 2nd place.

Runner-Up: Virgin Mobile

3rd Place: Sky Mobile

People seem to love the community-minded setup and the sim-only deals of O2’s Giffgaff MVNO

Best Online Retailer

Winner: Mobile Phones Direct

Runner-up: Mobiles.co.uk

3rd Place: Buymobiles.net

They did it again that 6 years now they have been the best but this year showed a close battle between them and Mobiles.co.uk who will win in 2019?

Best High Street Retailer:

Winner: Carphone Warehouse

Runner-Up: EE

3rd Place: O2

Carphone Warehouse has long been the independent mobile retailer of choice so this verdict is not a surprise.

Best Accessory Retailer

Winner:  Firebox

Runner-Up: Mobile Fun

3rd Place: Mobile Madhouse

Last years winner Mobile Fun has been pushed to second after Firebox is this year favourite for Mobile Accessories.

Best Recycling Service:

Winner: MusicMagpie

Runner-Up: Envirofone

3rd Place: Mazuma Mobile

MusicMagpie will take about any consumer gadget off you with a portal that makes selling it a doddle.

Best Insurance Provider

Winner: Protect your bubble

Runner-up: Insurance2go

3rd Place: Gadget Cover

You will never find out how good your insurance company is until you claim. So it’s a burst (of votes for) the bubble.

Best Customer Support

Winner: EE

Runner-up: O2

3rd Place: Vodafone

In an industry not known for sparkling customer service, it is EE which holds its head high at the What Mobile Awards.

Best Service & Repair

Winner: Geek Squad

Runner-Up: Fone Doctors

3rd Place: iFix

No-one likes to have to use a service and repair service but if you have to you will be in safe hands with these three.

Best Mobile Accessory Manufacturer

Winner: Logitech

Runner-Up: Belkin

3rd Place: Tech 21
